Merry Christmas to You and Yours! (Christmas Letter)

We wish you health and cheer as the Christmas season approaches!

We’ve had another exciting year and while this is our second holiday season in Missouri we are still adjusting to life in St. Louis.

However, we have found several new “favorite places”. The Johnson Shut Ins (which we’ve decided is named after us and the great impact we’ve made upon the state of Missouri), Elephant Rocks State Park which is a bed of huge red rocks of granite that look like giant baseballs about to roll down the hill and the Great River Road which runs along where the three major rivers converge. We recently drove the Great River Road to see all the leaves turning, it was beautiful.

In April, we moved to our new place: a home with a yard, which has been a lot of fun. Ross has been enjoying spending his Saturday mornings mowing the lawn and pruning bushes around the yard. We’ve also had a lot of fun decorating for each season . Ross’ work at Counsilman-Hunsaker continues to be very interesting and he is still really enjoying designing water parks in all shapes and sizes. I started off the year working with a mentoring program that supports at-risk youth in St. Louis city and have transitioned back to working with photography - you can check our recent shoots at http://www.cleardesignphotography.net/.

While it has been a challenging year at times, I think we have both grown and we hope to continue to learn more and more each day how to trust God with our time, our marriage, our finances and our friendships.

We have been very blessed. We still really miss the mountains and the oceans of Washington, so for my birthday in May we found an awesome deal and we took a trip to Denver, Colorado. We had a great time crawling around Garden of the Gods and drinking coffee while breathing in the mountain air in Estes Park at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We still really missed the ocean and after finding another incredible deal, we are looking forward to our first cruise. We will be leaving from Miami and heading to Nassau, Bahamas, Coco Cay, Bahamas and Key West, Florida. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we won’t be hitting any hurricanes. We are also really looking forward to spending New Years back in the Washington Mountains with friends and family.

We hope you too have had a fun and adventurous year and we look forward to hearing all about your year and your holiday season. We are thankful for your continued love and friendship and we count ourselves very blessed to have friends and family like you.

We pray and hope you will also experience the blessings and grace of Christ this Christmas. We hope you have a very Merry Christmas and that you continue to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.!" (2 Peter 3:18)

With lots of love,

Ross & Melissa Johnson
